The French filmakers Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine , famous for their documentary film ‘Houselife’ of Rem Koolhaas’ Bordeaux House in which housekeeper Guadalupe Acedo verbally guides a tour around the house, have produced a new, rather intimate portrait of Keisuke Oka, a butoh dancer. A Japanese man building his ‘house’, folly, shell in an adapted area of Tokyo; a ‘small universe built and thought in a rare freedom’, built over a period of 15 years.

a Dutch building firm recently announced what they defined as a new concept in housing, i.e., they produce complete housing for young ‘start-ups’ that can be relocated if needed. In een interview met het blad Eigen Huis Magazine stelt architect Thomas Rau: “in de toekomst is niemand meer eigenaar van de producten in en om het huis, die blijven allemaal eigendom van de fabrikanten. Zo kopen we straks geen lampen meer, maar lichturen. (..) Als je dit doortrekt is duidelijk dat we in de toekomst geen huizen meer bezitten. Huizen worden ‘grondstofbanken’. Producenten slaan hun grondstoffen tijdelijk op in een woning en dat depot halen ze na verloop van een periode weer leeg. Je koopt geen huis meer, je koopt woondagen, woonjaren, wat je wilt.” Dat impliceert – vlgs Rau – dat men dus ook geen producten meer aanschaft als ‘identiteitsbevestiging’ , maar je kunt concentreren op wie je bent. Volgens Rau loopt Philips de deur al plat; er is zoveel animo dat hij Turntoo heeft opgericht; een ‘dienstverleningsconcept.’ Hopelijk weerstaat hij de kritieken, die stellen dat hij het consumeren stimuleert.
